People’s Center Clinics & Services is thrilled to announce that Minnesota legislators granted $2.2 million in the bonding bill signed by Governor Dayton on Wednesday, May 30, 2017 for capital improvements to its Cedar-Riverside clinic building.
The grant will enable People’s Center to design, renovate, construct, and equip a facility that provides medical, dental, mental health, and wellness services to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
People’s Center requested the funding as part of its five-year strategic plan. The expansion will include exam rooms for behavioral health counseling, dental services, an eye clinic and a wellness/fitness center that will be open to the community. The expansion will enable People’s Center to serve an additional 2,500 new patients.
“We are grateful to Governor Dayton for including us in his bonding request, and senator Kari Dziedzic and representative Paul Thissen who authored our bill as well as senators and representatives from both parties who advocated for us,” says Sahra Noor, Chief Executive Officer for People’s Center Clinics & Services, “These capital improvements will help us advance the health and wellbeing of communities we serve and realize our vision of achieving health equity for everyone.”
People’s Center Clinics & Services’ mission is to deliver affordable health care, inspire hope and promote community wellness. For nearly 50 years, the Cedar Riverside Clinic has served the residents of Cedar Riverside—a neighborhood that has long been the first stop for new Americans, from the Scandinavians in the 1800’s to Somalis and other East Africans today.
